Well I don't even know where to start at. My mom had a stroke and we decided to go with this incompetent place. They don't do their job. Mom had a stroke and wasn't able to move. They would take the call light and tie it to the bottom of the bed where she can't get it. She would lay in bed for hours without anything to drink. She had to get 5 bags of blood within a month. She developed thrush and the staff had no idea what it was till I told them what it was. Her catheter needed to be changed once a month and it wasn't changed for at least 4-5 months just because no one in the building knew…

She developed thrush and the staff had no idea what it was till I told them what it was. Her catheter needed to be changed once a month and it wasn't changed for at least 4-5 months just because no one in the building knew how to change it. Her toe nail got ripped off somehow and the staff had no clue how that happened. Mom got a few infections because of a nasty catheter that they couldn't change. Mom was supposed to been fed by the staff but they wouldn't take the time out to do that even though it was in her chart the DON said. I was on the phone with Mom when she needed help so she yelled for help and they came in and told her to stop yelling while I was on the phone with her multiple times. We had meetings with the staff to address these concerns but nothing came out of it. She had a bruise on her face that the staff had no idea how it happened. Case worker Madison dropped the ball couple of times when we try to get her out of that place (didn't do anything to help) I have a lot of pictures to back everything up with. Call the state to find out more about this place. It was so bad that I had to get the state involved. The turn over rate for the staff is really high (a lot of the staff is from agencies from what we were told) anytime going in we would see a few people setting at the nurse's station while the call light was going off just playing on their phone and not answering the light. Just look into this place as much as you can before putting a Loved one in here plus she laid in her feces for at least three hours before being changed. Her feeding bottle was laying on the floor as well. O could keep going but I won't. Just look into this place before doing anything plus my mom had a couple of bed sores as well
I wouldn’t even rate this place but had to so I could speak my mind. My mom is in here now and they are playing with her pain meds. The Nurse Practioner lowered the dosage, so she will be going through withdrawals again. The hospital she transferred from said this wouldn’t be an issue this time as it was last December. She went from 15 mg of Oxycodone to 5 mg every 6 hours all at once, not even weined her down, they said because she didn’t have pain mgmt dr here, from out of state. Now she’s on 10 every 4 hours and they only gave her 5 mg today because they ran out…poor planning. The last…

The last facility in May was great and took good care of her, she didn’t do without but she was sent there from Grant. Last December, she was in Mt. Carmel and this time, she was in Mt. Carmel. I only picked this place because it was close to work. I could say so much more. She’s been on pain meds for so long. She now has pain mgmt dr here.
Hello Altercare family!! I just wanted to reach out and give mayor kudos to a few employees that work at this facility, particularly in the physical therapy department. The names are Mark Skees PT, Heather Wolfe OT, and Jareb Darby OT. These individuals are the ones who dealt with my father when he arrived at the facility. My dad could not even walk because he suffered from a brain stroke. It took him several weeks to respond to any of the therapy they were attempting to do. But they did not give up on my dad. They were determined to see my dad improve. They did everything you could think of…
Hello Altercare family!! They did everything you could think of to get him moving and it all worked! My dad went from not being able to walk to taking baby steps and then began standing and then began to walk. It was so amazing to watch them interact with my dad who is in his late seventies. It took a few months of consistent therapy from the individuals I mentioned but my dad is now walking on his own. He is at the end of his physical therapy and should be getting released any day now. I believe Mark, Heather, and Jareb are the best at what they do and to be honest deserve a raise or at least be highly recognized by the people that are responsible for this facility. They deserve all the props for their hard work. What they did for my dad you can’t teach. Either you have it or you don’t and they have it! Take care of these employees because they are awesome and you definitely don’t want to lose them! Thanks again to the physical therapy team!! The heart beat of Altercare!!!!
Don’t go here! If your on pain meds it will take 3-4 hours after requesting them. My brother who couldn’t get out of bed to use the restroom without help, did not get the help and had an accident. They left him laying in it until his wife came in and cleaned him up. Horrible!!!
My grandma was placed in this nursing due to her altered mental status and her c-diff. My grandma was not well taken care of at this facility at all. When one of the nurses came in with food, they tried feeding her but my grandmother wouldn't eat for a second so the nurse literally gave up and I had to feed afterwards which is fine, but if I am not there I expect nurses to feed her and make sure she is well nourished. Also, I happen to believe that they weren't doing a good job of cleaning her up and now she has a dirty UTI with E- Coli in her urine. I don't reccomend this place at all!
2nd day my dad fell and was left 2 1/2 hrs on the floor. Few days later 3 1/2 hrs on the floor. Been there a week and only one sponge bath. What are they getting paid for. He lies helpless in the bed and cannot walk.
Beautiful, clean facility. Emily, the new Admissions Coordinator is friendly, patient, and caring. Easy to access location in a lovely historic town.
