I like the staff at the facility. They are willing to help in anyway that they can and helped me with the transition by listening to me during really difficult times I like that the common areas stay very clean. I like how they serve the residents food in the dining area. I do not like that they are not staffed according to needs especially on the weekends. The cleaning lady only works every other weekend and I have not been there but once and did not have to clean my loved ones room, clean off the toilet seat, clean the counter and floor at times. I like how they serve the residents food in the dining area. I do not like that they are not staffed according to needs especially on the weekends. The cleaning lady only works every other weekend and I have not been there but once and did not have to clean my loved ones room, clean off the toilet seat, clean the counter and floor at times. Other members of our family have visited at times and they have found the room not kept. Staff is short on the weekend more than any other time. When I spoke to the director about it she told me she was not understaff and seemed defensive about it. I don't like that my loved one is left alone 2 hours at a time sometimes more. My loved one is in assistant living but declining so they may need more care. The activities are not as told to me at the signing of the lease. The activities are not consistently planned. Overall, I don't feel my dad is getting the individual care I had hoped for. He is housed, fed and cared for to the best of the aides ability, with all the residents they are covering. I don't feel that one aide for 2 floors is acceptable. This is usually on the weekends. Improvement is needed with staffing and listening to the concerns of family members. If I move my father it will be because I felt there were not enough eyes on him throughout the day and he is not being cleaned well with his incontinence problem.

I toured Brookdale Oakwood. It's the nicest. The building feels like a big home. It's very comfortable. When you walked in the first thing you smelled were cookies baked in the oven, so really nice. They were a bit small, but there is an option to join two rooms to make a pass-through and connect the two rooms, so it would look more like a bedroom in a living room. The staff was very knowledgeable and had a lot of information to provide about the facility and the activities. I did check their dining area. The first weekend which was the first two days my mother was at Brookdale her bed was urine soaked and they left her there. I should have transferred her at that very moment but of course Ellen said all the right things so I like an idiot I left her there. My mother was bedridden and was not a good candidate for Brookdale but they assured me she was. Ellen blocked got transfer from my mother to a facility that would have given her the care that she needed. Ellen blocked got transfer from my mother to a facility that would have given her the care that she needed. If your loved one is ambulatory I think Brookdale's suitable spot but for someone who needs more care it's not the right place. The last week my mother was alive I cut a mat out of her hair. My mother required so little care but Brookdale couldn't even brush her hair. In addition to losing my mother I have to deal with the angst that I responsible for the decision putting into her place where she was neglected. I would have rate it this place zero stars if I could.

We moved our mom here from another local facility that was much larger. We loved Brookdale's homey environment; very intimate. Every staff member knew each resident. My mom received excellent care here. We loved that the residents were encouraged to come out of their apartments and participate in activities. The staff even escorted them to the dining room for meals. Our only regret is that we didn't move her sooner.

We moved our mom to Brookdale of Oakwood from another local facility that was much larger. Brookdale was such a nice change - very intimate, every staff member seemed to know every resident. They had activities throughout the day and unlike the other place, my mom was encouraged to come out of her apartment and participate. We loved that the staff actually escorted the residents to the dining room for meals. Her care there was top notch; they had monthly 'family updates' and regular communications. Highly recommend. Our only regret is that we didn't move her there sooner!

Moved my friend into Brookdale Oakwood a year ago. Lovely experience. All of the staff greeted us with open arms. A great thanks to all.

I toured Brookdale Oakwood. I thought it was a very nice tour. They showed us everything. They told us everything about it. They understood the plight that my brother-in-law had. They didn't leave us hanging and told us how much it was going to cost and how they do things. It was a really good tour. The place was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. It was a very, very nice place. Everybody was very friendly and very nice.

Based on the experience we have had so far with Brookdale Oakwood, we can say we do wish they had more activities on the 3rd floor...however I do love the kindness they show to those residents.
