My mother is a resident at Cedar Living. I do not have enough good things to say about the care she receives. The staff is kind, attentive, knowledgeable and they all take the time to learn about their residents. The facilities are clean and comfortable, with a number of activities to keep everyone social. Meals are freshly prepared and delicious. Transitioning a parent to assisted living can be very emotional. Derek Hansen made the move seamless and was key in making my family comfortable with this decision. I would also like to thank Nadia who is key in ensuring my mother’s medical needs…

Short of the long…I feel very fortunate to have found such an outstanding facility!
I spoke to Derek on the phone and asked about pricing and availability. He was not helpful to provide details about the facility or pricing, gave me an average price that residents pay, and then accused me of calling to do a "market comparison" and not calling to find a place in the interest of my loved ones. He told me I could go to the website to get any other information that I was looking for and that he had nothing else to share. I am shocked how insensitive and uncompassionate Derek was during a conversation that is difficult for anyone looking to find a new home for their family…

If you're looking for upscale premises, this isn't your place. If you're looking for a place where the staff REALLY care about and enjoy the residents (and each other), and everyone is happy - this is the place. And the families of the residents know each other and many have dinner with their loved one most nights. I haven't been to another facility where the atmosphere was happy. I checked a lot of places and my mother was in a different, supposedly elite place - fancy, super clean and efficient and extremely expensive. But it wasn't a happy place. My mother wasn't happy. I checked a lot of places and my mother was in a different, supposedly elite place - fancy, super clean and efficient and extremely expensive. But it wasn't a happy place. My mother wasn't happy. And they weren't responsive at all! At Cedar living, everyone is responsive. Cedar Living is totally different than the others - it isn't part of a major chain. It's not institutional. Everything is in one large area - so people are together. The whole staff pitches in - a cook who does manicures. They all observe what's happening. I've gotten unsolicited texts with pictures of my mother doing something which made her happy. This is the only place I actually felt good about putting my mother in. She's been there 2 months and she is so much happier than before.
Only 16 residents. Everyone knows the residents and in turn the residents know the caregivers. Meals are home made and.can be adjusted to meet the.dietary needs of the residents. It’s a happy place.
Lazy and rude staff
I toured Cedar Living at Mayfield Heights. The facility was nice and clean, and it was a small community, which I appreciated. The rooms were not too large, which would be very good for my mom. They were simple rooms where anyone could be monitored very easily. It had a nice, roomy, public area for residents to dine, or enjoy activities. It was a pleasure speaking with the administrator. It was more like a home setting. You have a great room for activities, an open format for dining, and a fireplace. It was simple, but very nice, modern, and they had a nice courtyard where residents could walk around, enjoy the gardens, and sunshine. And they had a very good ratio of staff to residents. The staff seemed to be very attentive to the residents. You could see what everyone was doing, and that was good.
I had an in-person tour of Cedar Living at Mayfield Heights. I liked the fact that they were small. They didn't have a whole lot of people there. They were able to answer all of my questions. I liked the fact that it was clean. They had a courtyard and a big indoor dining area. I think it's near a hospital, shopping, and restaurants.
During our loved ones stay they did a really good job keeping our loved one in a pretty good state and were really good about redirecting our loved one when needed. The activities from what we saw seemed to be fine and as far as the care and interaction that was all pretty good. They were understaffed during our love done stay and even though they did their best - things like laundry and house keeping lacked some.
