Our experience with this facility was extremely concerning. The very first thing we noticed when walking into the building was the smell — a strong mix of urine and feces. That’s not exactly the first impression you want when entering a place that’s supposed to care for elderly and rehabilitation patients. Throughout the time we were there, we repeatedly saw staff standing around in the hallways talking with each other while people were entering and leaving the building. These didn’t appear to be quick work conversations either — it looked like groups of employees casually chatting. Watching…

Watching it unfold, you almost get the impression they’d have the best job in the world if it weren’t for the inconvenience of having patients in the building. The facility also appeared noticeably understaffed. Whether that’s due to poor management or because no one wants to work there anymore is unclear, but the end result is obvious. It seems like expectations for staff behavior are either very low or simply not being enforced. More concerning was the actual care being provided. My father was recovering from surgery and was in significant pain, but staff failed to give him his prescribed medication on time, leaving him in pain for hours. His leg bandages also were not changed as they should have been. Eventually his condition worsened to the point where we had to call a squad and have him transported to the emergency room because the wound had become infected. No family should have to make that call because basic post-surgical care wasn’t being handled. Based on what we observed, the level of professionalism, urgency, and attentiveness you would expect in a facility caring for elderly and rehab patients simply wasn’t there. Overall, the environment gave the impression of a facility struggling to maintain even basic standards while simply trying to keep shifts filled. That may keep the building operating, but it does not inspire confidence for families trusting them with the care of their loved ones. Needless to say, he will not be returning to this facility.
This facility was by far the worst of the worst. My mother was admitted for wound care and physical therapy. Despite this, she was not seen by the wound care physician until one week after she was admitted. I had to personally contact a “supervisor” to ask why she had not been evaluated and was only receiving first aid treatment. I was assured she would be seen that day however, the physician was in fact leaving the facility without having seen my mother at all. Thankfully, my brother happened to be present and stopped the doctor as she was leaving the facility; otherwise, she would not have…
This facility was by far the worst of the worst. Thankfully, my brother happened to be present and stopped the doctor as she was leaving the facility; otherwise, she would not have been seen at all. In addition to this, communication with the facility has been extremely problematic. When I call, I am unable to reach anyone directly or leave voicemails. This has made it nearly impossible to advocate for my mother or address urgent concerns. There have also been serious safety issues. On one occasion, she pressed the call button requesting to use the restroom and was left unattended for two hours. After she continued to receive no response, I had no choice but to call the local police non-emergency line to request a wellness check. Only after police arrived did staff respond. This is deeply concerning and presents a significant risk to patient safety and dignity. Another example was my mother was to receive IV fluids for dehydration. However, the nurse inserted the needle into her abdomen rather than a proper IV site. The fluids immediately began leaking onto her bed. Despite this, staff changed the bedding and did not remove or properly address the misplaced line. The nurse then instructed her to lie flat one her back for 10 hours and was not allowed to move. This instruction was neither appropriate nor medically justified and caused her significant discomfort and distress. The handling of this situation was unprofessional and did not meet acceptable standards of care. Furthermore, my mother was verbally yelled at by an aide (Rhoda) after we had to complain about a strong urine odor coming from a room across the hall, which was so overpowering that it permeated her own room. Rather than addressing the sanitation issue, she responded by speaking to her disrespectfully. Regarding the wound care, despite clear orders for treatment every two days, this care was not provided consistently. I had to repeatedly escalate concerns and “hold their feet to the fire” before staff finally addressed her wound. Delayed care places my mother at serious risk of further complications. My mother did receive exceptional care and support from her social worker, Shamia. She was compassionate, and proactive in advocating my mother’s needs. Shamia took the time to communicate clearly, address concerns promptly, and ensure my mother felt supported and respected throughout her care. Her professionalism and dedication made a meaningful and positive difference. The overall environment at this facility reflects a lack of care, accountability, professionalism , and basic respect for patients. The repeated failures in medical care, responsiveness, communication, and staff conduct have caused my family extreme concern and distress. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Twinsburg Post Acute to anyone under any circumstances.
I would like to thank Shamia Jones (Social Worker) for doing a great job and keeping inform with everything regarding my Mom. She stayed on top of things, like giving me a list of different Nursing Facilities, my Mom Health needs. Just being a good listener, and compassionate. Thank you, Shamia
The aides, nurses, therapists, housekeeping, activities, social worker, and all the people we interact with are kind and loving and helpful. Very caring. Food is good too!
My Mother was in there for about six months in 2023. Thank God we were able to get her out and find a nicer place. Her leg was broken from a wheelchair fall while a staff member pushed her without putting her legs up, she had bruises all over and the night staff were terrible! They lied when they wanted to get us to put her in there and said they have their own staff. They’d leave her in the lobby or dining room in her diapers and kept her so drugged up she didn’t have a clue. Thank God she has no recollection if having been there….but WE do! Nightmare.
Please don't take your loved ones there. My mother was sent there for rehabilitation services and instead, they let her deteriorate until she became bedridden. She was able to walk with a walker when she went in. My mother asked me to get her out and I said they fought me for 6 months and I had to secure assistance from an Ombudsman. When we were finally able to rescue her, she wasn't able to walk at all. Being bedridden for so long caused irreparable harm and we spent the last year trying desperately to undo the damage they caused. We recently lost her. Please avoid this facility. They will not provide care and it will shorten their lifespan.
I’m grateful for the care my loved one received here. The staff was compassionate, and communication was great. The front desk was always welcoming and kind to my family.
