I cannot express enough the amazing care that both of my parents received at this facility. The staff is amazing. Anytime I would call with any questions, the nurses station always answer the phone and took the time to explain things for me. When I would visit, the staff acknowledge me and was always very kind. My mother loved it there as did my dad. They treat their residence with so much care and kindness. If I could give more than five stars, I would
my grandmother is currently starving to death in this facility and cannot even swallow a tylenol for her rheumatoid arthritis. she has not eaten in 6 days and it is unclear how much water is made available to her. these are symptoms of a blockage in her esophagus, not a natural end of life appetite reduction. these are things two workers at this facility said to me today: "when older people are dying, they do not feel hunger pains like we do. you see how you can't hear her stomach growling? she doesn't even feel hungry." "she is resting peacefully but we can give her medication at your request." i am astonished at the lack of compassion and the seeming lack of understanding of bodies. my grandmother is suffering because no one explained to her children what it would mean to take their advice and forgo surgery and a feeding tube, and because for some reason the staff here think that starving to death is painless and peaceful when you're of a certain age.
Need to acknowledge Lauryn Martin who always takes great care of residents. She is excellent. Thank you Lauryn.
My mother fell and no follow up done. Short staffed. Not impressed. Appeal needs done with carrier for payment and was not done. Now stuck with a high bill that she can't pay.
My mother in law was transferred 9-17-24 there, so I kept calling the day after and they kept giving me a different line and there was NO answer. So I think they need better people answering the phones.
We put my dad there w/hospice. It’s clean, people and staff very nice. However, we would notice my dad in same clothes as day before. Went 12/24/22 to visit him. My sister noticed his finger tips blue and I said “he laboring to breath”. Nurse came in said that’s normal. After we left, hospice called and said he had a few hours. I felt like they didn’t pay much attention to him. Also he fell out of bed 3 times & at times he had clothes on that wasn’t his. RIP Dad 💔
I had an elderly family member go here and they dope them up! 5 different prescription drugs out of 13 pills total. Mitrazapine was supposedly given for depression and to help with sleep and this individual never had trouble sleeping and was never depressed. Mitrazapine is NOT supposed to be given to the elderly. It’s almost impossible to talk to a doctor, almost like they are doing something top secret. No Communication, Hennis House seems like they are a bunch of legal drug pushers/dealers, probably getting kickbacks from big pharmaceutical companies for pushing their product.
I stayed at Hennis House after hip surgery for rehab. I do not have the words for the care I received. It was wonderful. The nurses, rehab group and the chefs were all fantastic. They would just be walking past my room and would stop and ask how I was and did I need anything. Hennis House is exceptionally clean and they even did my laundry! The food was good a big selection and they would make food if you needed something special or just didn't care for what they were preparing. Can not say enough about Hennis House and if need be I'd go back in a heartbeat!!! Thanks to all who took care of me!!!
