I’d give it a zero if I could. They have an abuse citation as well. The hospital gave my mom a paper and they have a 1 star rating with hospitals. No thanks
Very disappointed in the drop of care since Journey took over. We have a camera in the room to back up all these incidences. Leaving a resident in the dining hall or their room for 12 hours unchecked is not good care. Putting in hearing aides with a dead battery so their ears are blocked is not good care. Not putting in the hearing aides is not good care. Not replacing a lost hearing aide for 6 months when it was left in overnight by the aide who got the resident ready for bed is not good care. Not combing a residents hair is not good care. Putting clothes in the laundry when family does the…
Very disappointed in the drop of care since Journey took over. Putting clothes in the laundry when family does the laundry and clothes don't come back is not good care. Not turning off the TV when the resident asks it to be off when she goes to bed. Resident in bed at 7, TV turned off after midnight!! Showing a resident their toilet mess they couldn't help doing after changing them and saying "look at this" not good care. Not showering resident for months is not good care. Requesting finger food because holding a utensil is painful and getting spaghetti that is impossible to eat is not good care! Spaghetti is not a finger food!!!!! Resident had spaghetti all over her as she tried to eat it with a spoon they gave her!! Blocking the camera (which is illegal) that's in the room and me having to go and unblock it at 10:00 at night because the nurse was "too busy and doesn't have to do it because I called" is not good care. Complained and it's still happening. The previous social workers were visible and ready to help in any way. We didn't have to go and follow up with them, as they came to us and told us the resolution to whatever situation or problem we needed handled. They were two of the nicest, most pleasant people. The residents loved them. We loved them and miss them. Everyone was sad to see them go. Their door was always OPEN and problems were taken care of ASAP. They messed up the payments of most of the residents, as we were still making checks out to the previous owner because we were never notified of the buyout!!! Now Journey is demanding payments that were made to the previous owner who has not given the payments that were made to them to Journey. If you bought a company wouldn't the FIRST thing you would check was to make sure payments and checks were made to you!!???!! They call me telling me we owe that large balance which we do not, as we paid to the previous owner. That is their problem to get the payments back, not ours!!! This has been happening since September, 2024. This is the care that a resident is getting when they have a loved one come in EVERYDAY!! Can you imagine the care others are getting who have no one to advocate for them?!!! Their motto states they want to go on this JOURNEY with the residents? They would not survive.
At Kirtland Woods of Journey, compassion, professionalism, and a deep sense of responsibility are at the core of everything. Each day, team members go above and beyond — not for recognition, but because they genuinely care. There’s a quiet, steady commitment that might not always be visible from the outside — staff staying late to comfort a resident, checking in on families just to offer reassurance, stepping in wherever they’re needed without hesitation. That kind of heart and selflessness turns this place into more than just a care facility — it feels like a true community. The environment…
The environment here isn’t just about clinical care — it’s about dignity, kindness, and the little moments that make residents feel at home. It’s not always easy work, but it’s clearly meaningful work. And it shows, every single day. The care, the people, and the team behind it all make a lasting impression.
My brother, sister and I decided to place my father at Kirtland. The care he received was excellent. The staff was very attentive and caring. They were compassionate and made sure he was comfortable. The management team were awesome from admission through discharge. He had limited mobility and if he couldn't go to Activities, they made sure he had things to do that he liked. The food was excellent and he was able to choose what he ate. We are very pleased and grateful for the wonderful care he received.
Kirtland Woods is transforming. The management team is dependable, caring and work extremely well together to ensure quality care for each patient/resident. They lead by example.
Kirtland Woods is under new management and their focus on quality care for the residents is apparent. With caring and compassionate staff from the floor staff to management. From caring for short term rehab stay, long term care or memory care. Things have changed and have changed for the better.
Although I was not in the building prior to January, there is an excitement in the air about the changes that are happening, for the better, that you can't ignore. I run into a smiling face in every part of this senior living community!
Kirtland Woods is finally becoming the senior living community it was always meant to be. Under new ownership, the focus on quality care, compassion, and communication is clear. Whether it’s long-term care, short-term rehab, or memory care, the team goes the extra mile. They also make the process easier for families navigating Medicare, Medicaid, or Medicaid pending status — which is a huge relief during an already stressful time. This nursing home is turning things around and truly feels like a place where residents can thrive.
