I would highly recommend Mount Alverna - they are one of the best in the Parma area. Great therapy team, nursing staff, management, etc. Kelly Chojna is also a great social worker - her communication, professionalism, and kindness makes such a difference during challenging times for residents/families. Highly recommend her to anyone navigating their stay in skilled nursing and discharge process. Aside from SNF, they have a wonderful reputation in Assisted Living , Memory Care, and Long Term Care. This community has it all :)

After looking at numerous nursing homes we thankfully found Mount Alverna a few years ago and are pleased with the room, food, and caring attitude overall. Being Catholic, we love the Chapel and the spiritual interaction that is available. I have found nurses and aides that are caring and listen to family input as a team approach to providing the best care for our loved one. Raj and other nurses have listened to any concerns I had and have shown compassion to my wife. Management shows care toward having good aides and staffing levels, not easy in todays environment. There are long term aides there that I hope stay for many years to come as they go above and beyond to show care and compassion to all their residents.

My relative stayed here and our family had a very positive experience. The staff was caring, attentive, and always treated residents with dignity and kindness. We truly appreciated the clean environment and compassionate care.

Our Mother has been at MAV for about 4 years now and we couldn't be happier with the facility. We are particularly grateful to all the staff on 3W for all they do. The unit manager, Raj Kaur LPN, has been extremely helpful and has always answered our questions and any concerns almost immediately. So grateful that Raj and the nurses and aids will pop in and check on our Mom throughout the day. It's difficult to have our Mom in a facility but we know she is well cared for every day. We can walk down the hallway or to other floors and we are always greeted with a smile and a hello by all the staff...from nurses to administration and all the staff. We are most grateful for Raj Kaur and all the nurses and aids on 3. Thank you for all you do.

If your loved one isn’t assertive and able to advocate for themselves, BEWARE, THEY WILL BE NEGLECTED! My mom was transported to the third floor of Mount Alverna Village for physical rehab. Supposedly, it was the “best option within the vicinity.” If this was the best, then I’d hate to see how neglectful the other options are. The first day, my mom was admitted to a room with a non-working TV. She was not provided any sort of orientation, given any information on what to expect (when are meals served, what does a typical day look like, what is the therapy schedule, etc.). When I arrived within the hour, I asked if there was some sort of orientation I should attend. I was told there was not any admittance meeting or overview. So you just admit people and give them or their family no information on what to expect?! When my mom arrived, it was lunchtime. She had not eaten anything that day and told the aid that brought her roommate a meal. Lunch was fish, which my mom does not eat, so they told her they could bring her a sandwich. It took nearly 2.5 hours to get my mom a sandwich. And that’s after I asked THREE different people and expressed my discontent. Her TV still was not fixed. Also, asked about that four different times. At this point, I am getting the impression that these people just do not care. You would think that they’d want to accommodate a new resident and make them feel comfortable and cared for, especially when their family member is present. But nope. I asked to speak with a manager, Rajwant Kaur LPN, because I am already concerned about the lack of attention. We were given the excuse, “but we’re not trying to use it as an excuse” that there was a party for the residents that day and the staff was attending that. Well, the party ended and YOU LEFT MY MOTHER IN A WET DIAPER FOR 14+ HOURS! And the neglect continued. I had my mom begin to write down how long it took for an aid to come after she pushed the button. Twenty minutes. Half an hour. Sometimes, someone would pop in only to tell her that they’d be back, only to wait another 20+ minutes. The final straw was after a night aid was nasty to my mom after she wet the bed. My mom was so scared to have another accident that she started going to the bathroom by herself because she couldn’t wait another 40 minutes for an aid to help her to the bathroom. And the manager, Rajwant Kaur LPN, still just made excuses. My mom had also asked for her ice pack but was told it was “misplaced.” Funny how it mysteriously showed up when I came to get her out of there after four days. The only saving grace is the chaplain, who was delightful.

Not what this place use to be. My family member was in here 3x and each time we tried to give this place a chance again because we were told people are waiting to get in it is so good. If this is best I'd hate to see worse. Nurses standing around by their desks like they have nothing to do and talking. But meanwhile my family member was wet and was never changed because they claim they didn't have time. Also was only given a shower once for the 20ish days because they didn't have time so my sister went in and did it. Had to be there all the time or nothing was done, patient not taken care of. Ended up with bed sores because of them not getting her up. Was told she had physical therapy on a Saturday, but yet I was there entire day and nobody came to do physical therapy on her. But her chart says she did. She was prescribed a medical cream and we get home and find out that it was never even opened so she wasn't using it. She can't do anything by herself. So that's why she's there. The list goes on. No water in her bottle so she wasn't drinking and not even checked on a Sunday. I came Sunday evening and she was never changed, was all wet and she looked horrible. I would really think twice about going here if you need to send family. There has to be a better place. They also never use to use outside aids but they do now. Nurses are short staffed, but if they were working instead of being at the front desk talking about non work stuff, everytime I came in, they would have more time, they claim they don't have time. There are a few nurses who care about their patients. Unfortunately they seem to be working extra hard because of the lazy ones. I almost forgot too. She ended up with blood clots in her calves. She ended up going into the hospital because of it and now she's sicker. So instead of her getting better, this place made her sicker. I wouldn't put my worst enemy here.

I think it’s time for the aides that worked there to stand up. I can say for myself . I should’ve put my 2 weeks in when I first started. We were almost always short. They have a high turnover rate for aides because as soon as they get them there quick to fire them over something that could’ve been solved . Oh and they don’t follow protocol either it’s straight to termination. The aides that trained me said this place was hell and they were all wanting to quit. And now I completely see why. They don’t advocate for there aides they advocate for the family members that barely come to check on their family. They show their true colors here fr so if you know any better you’d stay away. Dietary almost never pays attention to the tickets half the time and then the aides get yelled at but it’s not even our fault. If you don’t want your license played with don’t come here. Cause they absolutely don’t give 2 craps about you or your livelihood.

Mount Alverna claims to be a non smoking campus inside and outside. However, their workers smoke cigarettes in the back dock area, near the residents rooms who some are on oxygen. The residents don't need dry grass, or dry mulch caught on fire near their rooms by Mount Alverna's workers discarded cigarettes. Not to mention their workers poison, stink cigarette smoke drifting into the residents rooms through the room heaters outside air intakes or an open room window. The State Health Department will be notified on this matter.
