O'Neill Healthcare Bay Village

Our family was very disappointed with the care received at O’Neils. This facility consistency has staffing shortages on the off shifts and weekends with repeatedly witnessed lack of care and residents being unattended for hours on end. It was not uncommon for call lights to be on for over an hour without staff checking in. The staff that you are lucky to find during these times are mostly from an agency and lacked awareness on the personal basic care needs of our family member.. The facility looks very clean and well maintained from the outside and at the entrance area but the halls, rooms and restrooms where their residents live are not kept cleaned or maintained. I would NOT recommend placing a loved one at O’Neils

My family member has been a resident at this facility for approximately 18 months, and based on my direct observations, I encourage families to be actively involved in monitoring their loved one’s care. In that time, I have personally noted a number of recurring concerns: • Missed scheduled showers on several occasions within a month. • Missed or delayed meals, including one instance the day after I posted this review. • Air conditioning outages that created uncomfortable and potentially unsafe temperatures. • A dental issue (broken tooth) that has gone untreated for months despite repeated follow-ups. • An incident where my family member experienced severe coughing and discoloration of the lips; emergency services were not called right away, and I was advised to call myself. • An injury sustained when she was moved without the required Hoyer lift assistance. • Dirty incontinence products found on the floor in her room. • Limited or missed assistance with daily hygiene tasks such as tooth brushing. • Transportation to scheduled medical appointments missed due to coordination issues. While the staff is generally friendly when greeting visitors, I have also observed maintenance issues such as peeling paint, broken equipment, and unattended residents in certain areas. These are my own firsthand experiences and observations. I’m sharing them so that other families are aware and can make informed decisions and remain engaged in their loved one’s care.

The activity center here is wonderful! The staff is always very caring about the residents and so nice to everybody. There's a great variety of activities for the residents to keep busy with!

Absolutely loved this place when I had my uncle here! The activities team is always planning amazing activities/events for the residents with a smile on their face! Bingo was a big favorite! The director, Natalie is great at working with them to make everything go smooth!
