Great management fantastic loving staff and because of poor decision by the big boys of the company...our doors are closing for good July 31 2023. So sad.
My dad was at this facility..I was scared and skeptical... the staff at the Goerlich Center put my fears at ease..I talked with each and every staff member. They took the time to listen and learn about my father. I created a wonderful bond with all of them. My dad had the best care. Thank you Goerlich!!!
Absolutely horrible experience and conditions for my mother here. I witnessed aggressive staff, lack of compassion and unsanitary conditions. Staff would park her in front of a TV all day, then act inconvenienced when I would take my mom out for a walk, or brought food. My mom unfortunately passed away in this place after contracting Covid.
ProMedica Goerlich Center was very nice, but I didn't like it as well as the other place. The staff was very nice. The apartments were pretty nice. Maintenance and upkeep were pretty good. It needed painting and stuff, but that's all. They were very clean and very organized. The dining area wasn't as nice as some that I've seen, but it was OK. They have a beauty shop and someone that does their nails and hair. They showed us where the residents take a bath.
**UPDATE** Our mommy died yesterday at the facility. This team was compassionate, present, loving, gentle, guiding, supportive - the list goes on and on. No facility is perfect and it's very hard to hand over the care of a loved one. Expectations must be realistic and it must be a team effort. A great example of the care at The Goerlich Center is when my mom would have a lucid moment, one of her aids, Lori, called us frequently so that we could talk to her. It's helping me heal today because I got to talk to her! When we visited they always knew what mood she was in and what she was trying to say. They sang with her all the time, when she was unable to talk they knew what she was saying. They fed her, did her hair, kept her room clean. She was there for 2 years; no diaper rash or sores until she went down last week and that can't be helped (hence, you must be realistic). Not one time did it ever smell bad in there, her room was always clean. Her laundry got mixed up (realistic expectations) mainly because of her peeling them off and leaving them around but she was always bathed, and she always was clean, as were the clothes she wore. Never smelled once, ever, and I took care of her before she went there and I know her smells. We visited at all times of the day and night and it was always calm and serene. It's a team effort and they are a FANTASTIC team to have on this wild journey of dementia. It's a horrible disease. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR LOVING CARE OF BUNNY. WE WILL NEVER FORGET ANY OF IT. Our beloved mother is currently being cared for. They communicate with me frequently, and they're very accommodating with COVID visits (through the window.). I was her caretaker and I knew it was time to put her somewhere where I knew she's be safe. I was lucky enough to get her in here, as I had a neighbor who was a resident. She's been there for 8 months and we are eternally grateful to ALL of the staff for taking excellent care of her.
My mother in law is currently a patient and while most of the staff is wonderful,we encountered an aide tonight that was so rude and aggressive towards my wife and myself we are considering legal action. She not only was verbally abusive to my wife she also aggressively pushed her mother's chair into her room and tried to shut the door in my wife's face. We have been there several times to visit and the staff has been so kind and helpful; but what happened tonight was reprehensible and will certainly be reported to the proper persons in the administration.
My husband has had three rehab stays over the past year. He has stage five dementia. This was our best experience so far. Several people check with him while I am there where in other places, I could be there for three hours and maybe one person would check on him. Also, have seen in previous places where nursing seemed disconnected from the patient. They were very caring at Goerlich. He came home stronger than he has been in a year. Some of that could have been due to medicine changes and other stays he had issues that held him back, ie pain, etc but they still did a good job.
My husband came to Goerlick for rehab after a lenghty hospital stay. He is a Parkinson’s patient at the mid level of the disease. This facility truly understands how to work with his condition. The speech therapist, occupational therapist and physical therapist were fantastic. They were very thorough, spent quality time with him and got to know him so that the therapy was very targeted to this needs. They were the bonus to a nice facility. **** The daily nurses and aides were so efficient and personable. When I was not visiting they treated him like a family member. We were so lucky with the quality staff at the Goerlich center. The administrator, case manager and social worker worked closely with me through the process keeping me informed about insurance and things I needed to do for home care . I would highly recommend the Goerlich center for any Parkinson’s patient that needs a rehabilitation center.
