I needed to find an assisted living facility for my 51 year old brother. Sadly he has diabetes and other disabilities that required more medical attention than a family member could provide. Due to his age it was impossible to obtain enough medical help from medicaid to enable him to continue to live independently. We were so lucky to find Rocky River Village (Harbour Court). We were welcome with open arms by Lanita Turman. She went above and beyond to welcome my brother and make him feel at home. His apartment is warm and comfortable. We were welcome with open arms by Lanita Turman. She went above and beyond to welcome my brother and make him feel at home. His apartment is warm and comfortable. He is able to play bingo twice a week and participate in daily activities. The staff is friendly, professional and always available. We are very happy that we made the decision to move my brother to such a family oriented facility.
They refused to test their staff because of being short staffed. So you rather have Covid positive people taking care of your patients rather than testing? The DON for sure drinks on the job. Not to mention stealing is an issue. You address it and they don’t do anything about it. A resident can’t even get Covid tested unless the DON is there because she locks the supplies in her office. We just had a resident complain all night about having symptoms and the nurse couldn’t text because she didn’t have access to the supplies.
As a 31 year old dealing with a father suffering from dementia I really needed a facility that was on top of things. I did not have the time to police nurses or worry if my father was receiving adequate care. Because of that we had been in and out of several assisted living/long term care units until we finally found Harbor Court/Rocky River Village's Memory care unit. While there are many negative reviews I could be leaving at a number of facilities in the area, I have nothing but good things to say about my family's experience with HC/RRV. The director, Christa, was easy to work with and extremely accommodating to our needs. The memory care floor nurses Sue and Charlene were an absolute blessing. They were available at any time to answer questions and kept me well informed, I never felt like I was bothering them or that they were too busy for me. Every aide on the floor was also very personable and helpful. The suite itself was perfect for a memory care patient and move in was easy. I am so thankful that we found this place and that my father was able to peacefully pass under the care of hospice in this wonderful place. Thank you all so much.
I toured Rocky River Village. The sample room they showed me was very nice. I didn't see a lot of staff there. It seemed like the ratio of people to staff wasn't particularly high from my own visual observation and the 15 minutes I spent walking around there. The people I met with were all very kind, and they were engaged with the residents. The room I saw was very nice. It was certainly better than any dorm room I lived in college. I didn't see any library or a chapel. I saw a movie room, which was very nice. The staff was very nice. They're putting money into it. They were painting the walls of one of the floors and they were putting down new flooring, too.
The tour at Rocky River Village was OK. I felt the place was somewhat dirty. You had to go down the stairs to the dining room, and I'm using a walker so that made it difficult. They had a ramp that came up, but it was just too steep. I decided that wasn't a place I wanted to go, and I didn't think they were as friendly as the other places. They need a better system of getting down into the dining room, if in fact you have to be in a walker. The statement that was made to me, "If you're coming up the ramp, somebody will help you." That's not necessarily true that somebody is always there to help you? I doubt it. The rooms themselves were a pretty good size, so that's a positive for them. I wasn't that impressed with the people taking me on a tour. They weren't people I was interested in talking to; everything was sort of a matter of fact. Nothing really against them, but that is my feeling. It didn't look old really, but it didn't impress me too much. They had a lot of activities.
Everyone at Harbor Court is top notch From the front office and threw every department. The staff treated my mother like family. All my mothers needs were met and well performed well at Annie's Place on the 6th floor memory care!!!
