The staff was amazing and incredibly caring. The care my grandmother received went above and beyond anywhere else she had been. I was hesitant when first arriving based on old stories from years past. But the reviews said the new company was turning the facility around, which is so true. They are working hard to modernized the look, and it's gorgeous where they have completed it already. In the end, I could care less what was dated etc, because the care and kindness of the staff far outweighs everything else. It was a comfort in a dark time.
The Westerwood rehab center is a wonderful facility with an amazing staff! My father in law spent a few weeks there and the nursing staff were genuinely caring, patient, and attentive. I felt confident that he was in good hands while there.
Westerwood cared for my mom during her rehabilitation stay before she transitioned to hospice, and I truly cannot say enough about our experience. There is something to be said for the little things — the smiles, the warm greetings when you walk through the door, and the way every staff member acknowledged you. Whether they were my mom’s nurse, aide, or caring for someone else’s loved one, everyone was consistently kind and welcoming. They treated my mom with dignity and compassion. Whether they were my mom’s nurse, aide, or caring for someone else’s loved one, everyone was consistently kind and welcoming. They treated my mom with dignity and compassion. Once she went on hospice, you could see the shift — the tenderness in their eyes and the genuine desire to comfort not only her, but our entire family as we sat bedside for 12 days. A special thank you to Assistant Director of Nursing Andy for letting me do the ugly cry in his office and responding with grace and kindness in a very human, very needed moment. We are so grateful for the care, kindness, and humanity shown to us. Westerwood and their team exceeded every expectation.
Understaffed and the workers that are there seem like they don't want to be there and some of them are also a little rude and talk about patients
Westerwood Rehab did a an excellent job taking care of my elderly family member. Top notch medical, nursing, PT, OT, activities, showering, communication with the family, coordination with the home health care agency, and discharge documents for the PCP. They even provided personalized name tags for his laundry! It’s a beautiful campus, residents look happy, and every staff person I spoke with was helpful and pleasant. Discharge paperwork for his PCP was very detailed. If I ever need a skilled nursing facility (or independent/assisted living, Westerwood is where I’m going
Westerwood as a SNF and the overall (nonprofit) organization behind it deserves the highest credit for the caring staff, clean facilities and professional services it provides. While my father ultimately succumbed to his ailments, he was in good hands for the short time he was with them. The follow-on condolence card and floral arrangement they sent just blew my family away.
This is a terrible facility. They are involved with Medicare fraud and Capital City Hospice. They pushed us into getting mom into their hospice provider to supposedly administer morphine if mom took a turn for the worst to keep her comfortable, but meanwhile the Westerwood Dr was also keeping mom on blood pressure meds while she was in hospice for 2 years. During the 2 years in hospice, mom had 2 close calls and was revived with medication to bring her back. They totally disrespected our legal DNR and our wishes to keep their bed filled. The hospice company was getting roughly 6000 dollars a month from Medicare for absolutely nothing. The hospice nurse was not showing up regularly and this facility looked the other way. The communication with this facility was awful. They flat out refused to accommodate our request to communicate via email. With our jobs we can’t drop what we are doing to immediately answer the phone. This is nothing but an old and dingy money grubbing dump. The gross disrespect they had for my mother and our family was appalling. I suspect they were drugging her with morphine when she wasn’t in pain to keep her in a constant catatonic state and low maintenance for the staff. Nursing homes love hospice because it lightens the load for their staff as hospice should assume of those duties.Your not supposed to be in hospice for 2 years and you to stop all maintenance medications. You certainly are not supposed to be revived with drugs to keep you alive in hospice. The money train is leaving today. We are moving mom out of this facility. This place is Medicare fraud at its finest.
I like the amenities that Westerwood offers. The space, while it's 47 years old, is very well kept and up to date, as they remodel each apartment before it is leased with all brand-new appliances. It has a lovely interior. It has an adjacent wood lot for walking outside and the usual stuff. They have bocce ball, gardening, and all of this stuff that all of them have. We were very impressed with them. One little downside was that there's only one meal provided per day. So, if you're independent and can prepare your own breakfast and lunch, their dining rooms are quite adequate in the individual apartments. You can also purchase other foods at their bistro and restaurant. They have a staff that has a low turnover. It means that the staff there are veterans. Some have been there for as long as 40 years. Cleanliness was 100%. The layouts and sizes of the rooms met our expectations. Some were superior. One in particular had two sides that had a view of the woods, so you can participate in outdoor walking, and that would have pleased us greatly.
