3.8 · 13 reviewsI toured Alpine House of Maple Heights and talked with the administrator, Michael. He was the initial contact for bringing new patients in. He's very good at taking the time to listen and provide whatever services he can for the residents. The building is very clean. It's smaller-it's on one floor, and it's huge. Alpine has a nice-sized dining area. I met the cooks and chefs, and they have a lot of activities for the residents.
We toured the Alpine House of Maple Heights. We didn't like the place at all. The lady at the desk didn't seem too friendly, but the administrator was nice and took us on a tour. We just walked around the facility and they had a room for arts and crafts and stuff. There was no one there and mostly all the seniors we saw were out there smoking. They had a couple of gentlemen in the TV room and they just didn't look clean and fresh.
My mother is at Alpine House of Maple Heights. The first thing I like about it, for my mother's situation, is getting her away from danger. I like that the other residents there were in the same situation (and some different situations) and she would be able to be social rather than staying at home alone while me and my daughter work. She gets to meet people and be social, so I love that about it. I love the fact that they take them out on outings like to any grocery store they want to go to or any shopping center they want to go to. Also because my mom is a recovering drug addict, they even…

Also because my mom is a recovering drug addict, they even have NA meetings there. They have a beauty shop there, so my mother doesn't have to necessarily go out for her haircut because now she can stay and get her haircut. They have 24-hour care where they have nurses, 24 hours. They have a doctor that comes in regularly. They have restaurant-style dining. The apartment is a nice size, too. It's also very, very clean. The staff are so nice and pleasant. They are so caring and understanding. When I went to visit with my mom last week, it was lunchtime, and they offered me a meal. The meals were pretty nice. They're almost like home-cooked meals. We had tuna casserole, and it was really good. Another thing is that they have activities. They have a whole big old room for activities. They have an in-house spa and residents can make an appointment to go to the spa. They have different activities throughout the day. They leave out books, coloring pages, and crossword puzzles on different tables. And then they set up time for different activities also.

We chose Alpine House of Maple Heights for my father. They have been in contact with me to show that they remember who I am and my dad, and I like that. The room comes with a small balcony, so my dad can open up the window to get some fresh air. They have a little basketball area, a sitting area outside, and community meals. They said if you weren't able to come down, your meal could be delivered to you. They have a full nurse on staff. I asked a couple of the residents how they liked living there, and they said they did. They have an arts and crafts activity. The dining area was nice and clean. The gentleman was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everybody was nice.
Alpine House of Maple Heights is assisted living. It's a smaller dwelling that's more secure than where my father is now, so I give them props on the security. The food comes with the rent so you don't have to pay extra for meals, so I give them credit on that as well. And it's affordable for elderly citizens who are on a fixed income and don't have extra money. This one is elderly-friendly. There's no trouble trying to connect with the staff. We haven't tried the food but they showed us the meals. At the time that I applied, there was one room available that would have been on the second floor. They were accommodating of the fact that I wanted to make it difficult for him to leave, so they were going to put him on the second floor.
Alpine House of Maple Heights is nice. The rooms are a little small. My brother says my dad doesn't need a lot of room, but I'm going off from my take on it and I don't think that he would like the room being that small. Everything would have been all in one place, and that's not what he's used to, so that's the only reason I didn't go with that. However, on the flip side of it, to give it a great review, they are very clean, they were very courteous, and the young lady answered all of my questions. They didn't have memory care. They did a really good job with the remodeling. The rooms are nice, it's just to me, they're too small, but if someone doesn't mind living in a small space, then that's fine. They have a very spacious meeting area. The place is very well lit up probably because they're on the corner, and to me, for my dad, that wasn't a good idea because it's a busy street and he's in a wheelchair and he wanders, so that wouldn't work out for him. It's a very nice place. The staff stayed on his job, and he called, 'Did you make a decision yet? I don't mean to bother you.' He wasn't rude, and he was very professional. Overall, if I were to pick a place, it would be Alpine over the other facility. They have been in existence for two years, and they don't have a lot of residents at the moment. They're building up their clientele. However, I did see a few people that stay there, and they looked pretty comfortable to me. They also have a couple of vans out there to take them shopping or whatever. It was an aide that showed me around. Another thing that I like is that they step up when the director is not there. They don't just say, 'Well, can you come back?' and they don't do that. The young lady knew what she's showing, and she did a very good job. The facility is very clean in there.
Alpine House of Maple Heights had everything I would need. They provide assistance with bathing, meds, meals, and light housekeeping. Everybody has their own room, too. It's really nice and the staff has been very helpful. They have a game room with pool and foosball tables, a beautiful dining room, a sauna room, and an outside smoking area. When you walk in the door, it doesn't smell. I saw a studio apartment, and it comes with a dorm-sized refrigerator and a microwave. You control your own heat and air conditioning, and they can either come furnished or you can do it yourself, then you have your own bathroom. You're allowed to leave the premises as long as you sign in and out, and you would have to wear a Life Alert in case you fall.
