Our family had a deeply disappointing experience with Birchaven Village while my grandmother was under their care. There was a significant lack of communication and professionalism from management and nursing leadership throughout her stay. Concerns and issues were allowed to build up over time without being properly addressed or communicated to our family in a timely manner. What was especially frustrating was that my mother was present at the facility every single day advocating for my grandmother, yet the head nurse never approached her directly to discuss important matters face-to-face.…
What was especially frustrating was that my mother was present at the facility every single day advocating for my grandmother, yet the head nurse never approached her directly to discuss important matters face-to-face. Instead of open and proactive communication, we often felt left in the dark regarding situations involving my grandmother’s care and wellbeing. Families place an incredible amount of trust in nursing and rehabilitation facilities during vulnerable times, and clear communication, compassion, and accountability should be a priority. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect those standards. I hope this review encourages improvements in transparency, family communication, and overall patient care moving forward.
Kept Mom active by taking her to Bingo, having her eat in the dining room, etc. Staff was friendly and caring, provided alternates for the meals since Mom is a picky eater. Turned on Mom’s favorite shows on her private TV and let Randall the cat keep her company in her room. Would recommend the Memory Care Unit for Dementia patients.
I was there for auto accident rehab and surgery recovery . some of the staff shouldn't be around people . noise was a constant problem when rest is what you need . therapy was not consistent in time of day or week .. But it wasn't all bad , there was a lot of good people and the food was descent..3 out of 5 Stars ,
Thank you to staff at birchaven for loving grandpa like he was family. Thank you to the staff for loving my family while we stayed with him for his last day. The coffee and soda and snacks brought to us in his room meant the world to us during this time and I will never forget the kindness you all showed us and my grandpa. The facility is kept very nice and very clean and the residents were always friendly to us which meant they were cared for too. And of course Randall makes a great addition to the facility for the residents, and my grandpa loved him.
My dad is here for rehab and I can't complain on how well the staff is with him the nurses, stna are great with him.
Lights are out in hallways. Often wake up to only having cold water. The water heaters keep going out. Told to set A/C to 72 in apartments but it often doesn’t cool past 76. First floor is dusty and carpets are not swept. First floor janitorial staff is not to the highest standards. Food is overpriced for the quality and quantity of what you get. Pool is too cold to get into because of a broken part that was not budgeted for so it isn’t used by most residents. The residents are friendly. They get together for puzzles, card games, coffee, bingo and movie nights.
Love it
The administration in charge run the facility in a sterile, cold and non-caring fashion. The facility is run like a warehouse. The treatment of my mother, for instance, has been an abomination. A ludicrous, base-less accusation, and unsubstantiated, was made against her. My mother was also threatened multiple times by so-called "professional" administrators. If you love your family member, do not consider this facility nor subject them to the ill treatment of its administrators.
