Beautiful place! They have very helpful staff. The residents are are well taken care of and all seem happy. They have amazing meals and entertainment every Friday during happy hour! They go above and beyond on special events and honor special trips and outings for their residents. Smith's Mill has made a tremendous difference in my life.
Smith Mill Health campus turned out to be exactly the right place for us. Everyone was great. They were very attentive to Cheryl’s needs in every way and Cheryl enjoyed it there. The room she was in was the perfect room for her because there were White Hydrangea bushes outside Cheryl’s window and she Loved those. They reminded her of home. I am very pleased with our experience here.
My parents have been here for 7 months and I have learned a lot. Initially I thought, WOW what a big beautiful place. Impressive!! Well, it is, but it lacks a Unit/Supervisor for each hallway/area, very little supervision over-seeing things are done and/or followed up on. When you call the nurses' station, you can be on hold forever - an no answering system to leave a message for a call back. It's all up to lady luck. The CNA's and Nurses are GREAT people: hard working and they do the best they can. Very friendly and helpful (if your there visiting). I think they all have too much on their…
My parents have been here for 7 months and I have learned a lot. I think they all have too much on their plate and they are short staffed. I'm not sure if clothes changes, bedding changes and showers, or hav the time to just go in to a room to check on residents and visit them. I think all this falls on the administration, not the employee's. Again, no one to supervise if something got done or not. Call lights can stay on for long periods of time. I have wrote emails and literally get ignored. It took months to get my mom's pace maker 'working'. and From the time it was dropped off, lost, plugged in and running. I have walked in the facility many many times without anyone saying 'hello', 'can I help you?' I do get excuses, reasons and explanations, talked over and down to when addressing any concerns instead of sincere response, and acknowledging they understand the problem and offer a solution. May parents pay A LOT of money $$$$$ to be taken care of, and it's not all bad. The food is pretty good, the rooms are sufficient - fairly clean, there are plenty of activities, the grounds around the building are kept up very nicely (no garbage, mowed).
This has been a good experience as PT/OT taught me so many ways to help myself. Nurses, aids were always there to help, of course I had my favorites...lol. Residents were always friendly, I met a few ladies I ate with and really enjoyed. OK , The chef was great, cook was amazing. I ate things i never wanted to try but did and delicious!! All in all the workers were always smiling and made me feel welcome. Vicki
Cheryl was probably one of the more difficult residents you have had due to her disease. Being in and out of the hospital twice in the short time she was there made hard to get to know her habits. But the last month she was there everyone did a great job until the very end. I am glad we choose Smith’s Mill.and thankful for your care of a very special person.
I can't say enough positive things about Smith's Mill. We moved my mom into memory care a few months ago and they have been outstanding!!! They take her on all sorts of little day trips including visiting puppies, Lynd's farm, out for ice cream and they go to the park. She is clean and well dressed and they paint her nails often. I highly recommend!!
Best place friendly and welcoming.
Smith Mills is the best facility that my brother has been a resident. He is very happy. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and attentive. The facilities are excellent and clean. They create a home for their residents.
