Hello. After living 5 years at group homes, I was fortunate enough to apply and then be accepted into National Church Residences. In every aspect the staff, environment and availability of services are professional and positive in nature. The recommendation from me is, high. Thank you, Christopher Vaughan

My brother-in-law has been a resident at Stygler Commons for approximately three years. The staff have went above and beyond to provide for him to make sure his care needs are met. This has been the worst experience. I truly cannot believe how we were handled by "Christians". We started this journey in June might have been May with this company. My sister got sick in 2024 but made a come back, enough to where she could live on her own but with some assistance. Because she is under 62 there were a limited number of places that she could go. She had two social workers that gave me the same list of places to call, which none would take her because of her age. I was down to my last company and asked them what are disabled people under 62 suppose to do, they gave me National…

I was down to my last company and asked them what are disabled people under 62 suppose to do, they gave me National Church Residences. After the initial phone call, I thought finally! We went for the initial assessment, done by Samantha Jones, director of nursing and she was approved the same day but put on a waiting list because there wasnt an open place for her. Perfect she could stay in the rehab while we waited. I provided all paperwork needed, took her to doctor appointments, running all over town to make sure we got everything done. Finally, on September 30th we got the call to come complete paperwork, but it still would be 30 to 60 days because whoever was in the apartment would not or could not leave. We patiently waited, paperwork expired, doctors notes expired and we would go and get it updated and provide it. We were on top of it. Finally, on December 8th we got the call the person in her apartment would be gone and she could move in. We were waiting on a move in date, got her room number so we knew her new address. We went shopping to look for items for her place, we were so excited. Of course we need to provide updated paperwork because of the length of time it has been we did that. On December 19th, I get a call from Samantha Jones stating that they could not approve my sister because of her medical records. Stated that she was refusing treatment and showers. Huh??!! Like she was giving up. Are you kidding me? I am telling her this is not true and to reconsider, why would she refuse treatment and be happy about moving into her new place..she eas excited about decorating and cooking and having family over, but she is refusing treatment. Samantha then says she was on the fence about it from the initial assessment in June! What??!!!!!!! Why wouldn't you as the director of nursing say that!!! She could have said, you know I am on the fence let's reassess her in 30 or 60 days instead of having us run around for 6 months. How do you refuse a shower..if she doesnt want to take one that day she doesn't have to, like every other human being we have choices. My sister is a sound minded adult, and she can choose how her day looks and she should not be punished for it. She had so bad wounds on her legs and she sees a wound doctor who changes her bandages, and she only needs them changed every couple weeks..they have a wound person at the rehab but she sees her own doctor. They ask if she needs them to change them for her at rehab, sometimes yes sometimes no just depends on her needs. Samantha was not hearing none of that, she said she dont know my sister and she reading notes. She said she not changing her mind. She is looking at a chart and made a 5 minute decision to deny my sister. At this point I am yelling at this lady, she doesn't know how devastating this is for no reason. She couldn't even get off her high horse to do another assessment of her right now. No, but it is cool to this right before Christmas. She is going home to her family and friends and not thinking twice about. I know she has a job to do, but if you have someone pushing back like I was I think it is worth a second look. Now we have to start from the beginning and figure it out because she does belong in the nursing home that is gull of people on their last leg. My sister wants live! I won't let them count her out. Just because it says National Christian dont mean Christians are running it. I still trust God has something great for me and my sister.

( * This Review isn't based on the facility or staff. There are issues with the city & surrounding business's. ) " We the People " need to get something done about the sidewalk issue, In front of Jade Bowl House. I have reported the issue to City of Gahanna several times as of Monday 9-30-24 on SeeClickFix & many months ago. As in 6 months to year or more. The sidewalk still hasn't been repaired. I have personally witnessed a Senior Man in a Motorized Electric Wheel Chair get stuck, Fresh Coffee from Speedway spilled on him, Also of frustration riding onto the street at risk of getting hit by a vehicle. With reason to believe damage was done to his transportation. Another Senior Man who was deaf & using a Rollator to assist walking, told me he had to travel through the parking lot to get to where he was going, to avoid the sidewalk Issue. Recently another man as i have been told, his Motorized Electric Wheel Chair Fell over & he was injured. All 3 Men Residing at ' National Church Residences - An Assisted Living Community: Stygler Commons. as Shown on Google Maps " There are several bars in the area. I haven't known of any issues with Dolphin Lounge. I have personally witnessed a Car & a Motorcycle running a red light, turning onto the opposite lanes S. E. corner of McDonald's, after Exiting the parking lot of the MUG, as i was walking E. to cross Stygler Rd. I was almost halfway across while these occurrence's happened.

My dear friend that I was oversseing her care lived here recently for several years. She was well cared for and I appreciated the dedication of the staff.

The staff was very nice, the facility is clean and I'm happy my sister lives in a place where people are so accommodating. Thank you.
